Rev. Kirill Podolsky

Father KirillFather Kirill – was the grandfather of my grandmother, Larissa.  So, he is – as I can understand – my great-great-grandfather.  At this picture we can see him with the daughter, Olga, and son Nikolaj.

It was the village of Turki, about 30 km from Bobruisk, Belarus.  Father Kirill was a priest at the local Church of the Holy Trinity.  Old wooden church built by the local landowner Bulgak in 1804, and lated some repairs were done in 1863.

He has graduated from Spiritual School in the city of Chernigov and was ordained into Priesthood at the year of 1852.  So long ago!
And since that time he served at the different local village churches – Zaspen, Map TurkiChikholovichi, Dvorjaninovichi, and at last Turki where he served since 1871 till his death in 1896.  He was decorated for impeccable service and was a teacher of Theology at the local village school.

As I’ve told, the church was old and needed renovations, but with big family (8 kids!) Father Kirill couldn’t do much.  Anyway, he did what he could.  He died in 1896 and was buried under the altar of the Church.  It was rebuilt in 1898 by the parish.  This church existed until 1980th, until it was burnt and the grave was desecrated.  This sad story I’ve heard from the nowadays priest Father Elysey.
